Misery is a psychological horror film directed by Rob Reiner and based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Stephen King. The film follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan), who is rescued from a car crash by a psychotic fan named Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates). She keeps him captive in her remote home and forces him to write a novel to her liking. As the novel progresses, Paul discovers that Annie is a dangerous and unstable former nurse, and he must find a way to escape before she does more harm. The film was a critical and commercial success, receiving multiple Academy Award nominations including Best Actress for Kathy Bates, who won the award.

The film is based on the 1970 novel of the same name by James Dickey and tells the story of four Atlanta suburbanites on a weekend canoeing trip in the Georgia wilderness who are confronted by dangerous locals. The group, led by Lewis Medlock (Reynolds), venture downriver on a raft and canoe to experience the beauty of nature, while they are also pursued by two menacing locals. Along the way, their journey becomes increasingly perilous, and soon they must fight for their lives or risk becoming victims of the locals' revenge. The film was a critical and commercial success, and is considered to be one of the most influential films of the 1970s.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil is a 2010 comedy horror film written and directed by Eli Craig. The film follows two hillbillies, Tucker and Dale, who are mistaken for murderous backwoods hillbillies by a group of preppy college students. The college students' misconception of the duo leads to a series of accidental deaths on their vacation at an isolated cabin. As Tucker and Dale try to save the kids from themselves, the tension between the two groups escalates, leading to a blood-soaked showdown. Though Tucker and Dale are portrayed as the "good guys," their innocence is often tested as they attempt to defend themselves from the accusing college students.
