Close Encounters of the Third Kind is a 1977 science fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg. The film tells the story of Roy Neary, an everyday blue collar worker whose life is irrevocably changed after a close encounter with an unidentified flying object. As he struggles to make sense of what he experienced, Roy finds himself increasingly obsessed with the idea of making contact with alien life. His obsession leads him and others on an incredible journey which ultimately reveals a massive intergalactic event. The film features a spectacular climax as Roy and others are able to make contact with the alien visitors in a spectacular display of lights and music.
