Bowling for Columbine is a 2002 American documentary film written, directed, produced, and narrated by Michael Moore. The film explores what Moore suggests are the primary causes for the Columbine High School massacre in 1999 and other acts of violence with guns. Moore focuses on the background and environment in which the massacre took place and some common public opinions and assumptions about related issues. He also interviews various people, including South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, Marilyn Manson, and former National Rifle Association president Charlton Heston. Through his investigations, Moore attempts to answer why the United States has more gun-related homicides than any other industrialized nation, and what can be done to prevent future tragedies.

As his world begins to unravel, Fred is drawn into a surreal nightmare realm in which he is reminiscent of the identity he once held. As the lines between his past and present blur, Fred must come to grips with his inner self as he races against time to save himself from an unknown fate.
