The Silence of the Lambs is a psychological horror-thriller film directed by Jonathan Demme. It follows FBI trainee Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) as she engages in a desperate cat-and-mouse game with the brilliant but twisted serial killer, Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), to try and catch another serial killer. Clarice must tap into her own dark past in order to gain insight into the psychopathology of the killer and ultimately save his latest victim. The film was a critical and commercial success, winning five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actress (Foster) and Best Actor (Hopkins).

Delicatessen is a 1991 French black comedy directed by Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. The movie is set in a post-apocalyptic future where food is scarce. The protagonist, Clapet, is a butcher who runs a delicatessen in a rundown apartment building. He lures in people with his delicious meats, only to kill them and use them as ingredients for his dishes. Clapet meets Louison, a former circus clown who has come to the city in search of his lost love. The two become friends and eventually team up to fight against the evil forces that threaten the building. With the help of some of the building's strange and eccentric inhabitants, they are able to thwart the villainous plans of the landlord and keep the peace in the neighborhood.
