The Wizard of Oz is a fantasy musical film from the year 1939 directed by Victor Fleming and starring Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale. After a tornado whisks her away to the magical Land of Oz, Dorothy must find her way back home to Kansas. Along the way, she meets a Scarecrow, a Tin Man, and a Cowardly Lion, who join her on her journey to the Emerald City in order to seek help from the Wizard of Oz. Along the way, they encounter various obstacles and difficulties, including the Wicked Witch of the West. In the end, they discover that the Wizard is a fraud, but Dorothy learns that the power to go home has been with her all along. The film is a beloved classic, with memorable songs and characters, and has become an iconic part of pop culture.
