Young Mr. Lincoln follows the life of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. The film begins with Lincoln as a young lawyer in the small town of Springfield, Illinois. He is respected in the town, though his ambition is to one day become a great lawyer. Lincoln's first case is defending two brothers accused of murder. In the course of defending them, he uncovers a conspiracy hatched by his political enemies, which ultimately leads to the acquittal of his clients. The film follows Lincoln's life up to his nomination for the presidency. Through his experiences, he comes to understand the true value of justice, and the power of his words and his convictions. The film is notable for its use of historical accuracy, as well as its deep exploration of the character of Lincoln himself.
