Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) is a science-fiction horror film directed by Don Siegel. The film tells the story of a small town in California that is infiltrated by alien spores. The spores take over the bodies of the townspeople, creating emotionless duplicates that seek to replace their human counterparts. The only ones who know what is happening are Dr. Miles Bennell (Kevin McCarthy) and his ex-girlfriend Becky (Dana Wynter), who join forces to try to stop the alien invasion. The film is a psychological thriller and an allegory for Communist infiltration of the United States during the Cold War. In the end, the town is left in ruins with Dr. Bennell and Becky barely escaping the clutches of the alien pod people.
