What We Do in the Shadows is a 2014 comedy horror film written, directed and starring Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. The vampires include Viago (Waititi) a dandy of 379 years, Vladislav (Clement) an 862 year old “bad boy”, Deacon (Jonathan Brugh) a 183 year old “hipster”, and Petyr (Ben Fransham) a 8,000 year old elder vampire. The film follows the vampires as they navigate through their daily lives in modern society; hunting for human victims, attending a vampire’s ball, and dealing with the local werewolf gang. Along the way they discover the pitfalls of being a vampire living in the 21st century.
