X-Men: Days of Future Past is a 2014 superhero film directed by Bryan Singer. It is the seventh installment in the X-Men film series and a sequel to both 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011's X-Men: First Class. The plot revolves around Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) being sent back in time by the mutant-hunting Sentinels from a dystopian future in order to change the past and prevent an apocalypse that will result in the extermination of both humans and mutants. Along with Wolverine and Professor X (Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy respectively), the film features a large ensemble cast including Magneto (Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender), Storm (Halle Berry and Alexandra Shipp), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn, Jennifer Lawrence) and many others. Together, the mutants must join forces to prevent a future in which mutants are hunted and killed, in order to save both the mutant and human race.
