Ultimately, the boys find the body and learn valuable lessons about life and mortality that stay with them forever.

The Iron Giant is a 1999 American animated superhero science fiction adventure film produced and directed by Brad Bird based on the 1968 novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. Set in the 1950s, the film stars the voices of Eli Marienthal, Christopher McDonald, Jennifer Aniston, Harry Connick Jr., and Vin Diesel as the titular giant robot. The film follows a young boy named Hogarth Hughes who discovers a giant metallic robot who fell from space. With the help of a beat-up robot named Dean McCoppin, Hogarth attempts to hide the Iron Giant from the paranoid federal government and its trigger-happy military. As the two become friends, Hogarth teaches the Giant about the world and the Giant learns about humanity and the importance of life. In the end, Hogarth and the Giant must face off against a U.S. government conspiracy to destroy the Giant.

Eventually, E.T. is able to get back to his home planet, after a heart-warming goodbye. The film is a heart-touching story of friendship, loyalty, and courage.
