Mayabazar is an Indian epic fantasy film released in 1957. Directed by Kadiri Venkata Reddy, the film is based on two stories from the Mahabharata: the story of Abhimanyu and the story of Krishna and Shalya. The film follows Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna, as he attempts to penetrate the Chakra Vyuh, a formation of soldiers. With the help of Lord Krishna, Abhimanyu is successful in entering the formation but is soon killed by the Kauravas. Meanwhile, King Bhishmaka invites Krishna to the kingdom of Mayabazar in order to marry his daughter Rukmini. Krishna, disguised as a brahmin, reaches the kingdom but is soon recognized by Shalya, the uncle of Rukmini. Shalya challenges Krishna to a game of dice. Despite Shalya's attempts to cheat, Krishna defeats him and wins Rukmini as his wife. The film ends with a grand celebration of the marriage of Krishna and Rukmini.
