The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film directed by Henry Selick and produced/co-written by Tim Burton. The story follows Jack Skellington, the King of Halloween Town, who is bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world". When he stumbles upon Christmas Town, he gets a new lease on life and hatches a plan to bring Christmas under his control. He kidnaps Santa Claus and enlists the help of the inhabitants of Halloween Town to take over the holidays. As Christmas day approaches, however, Jack discovers the true meaning of Christmas and makes a difficult decision. The film features the voices of Danny Elfman and Chris Sarandon, as well as a musical score composed by Elfman. The Nightmare Before Christmas was a critical and commercial success and has since become a Christmas classic.

The Wicker Man is a British horror film released in 1973. It stars Edward Woodward as Sgt. Howie, a devout Christian police sergeant sent to the isolated Scottish island of Summerisle to investigate the disappearance of a young girl. Upon his arrival, he discovers that the islanders have abandoned their Christian beliefs and are now worshipping the old gods in a nature-based religion. With the help of the island's leader Lord Summerisle and the mysterious local woman Willow, Sgt. Howie discovers that the girl is part of an ancient pagan ritual. As he attempts to foil the ritual, his investigations bring him into conflict with the islanders, leading to a shocking and disturbing climax.
