Pan's Labyrinth is a 2006 Spanish-Mexican dark fantasy drama film written and directed by Guillermo del Toro. Set in Francoist Spain in 1944, the story follows a young girl named Ofelia as she navigates her new life after her pregnant mother moves to a military camp with her new husband, Captain Vidal. Ofelia soon discovers a world filled with mythical creatures, led by a faun called Pan. She is tasked with completing three dangerous tasks to prove her worthiness to enter a grand kingdom and reunite with her father, who she believes is a king in this alternate realm. Meanwhile, the cruel Captain Vidal is determined to root out the rebels who threaten the regime. Ofelia must use her courage, cunning, and imagination to overcome the obstacles that stand in her way and reunite with her father.

As he delves deeper into his investigation, Trevor soon finds himself in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse as he is targeted by a mysterious figure attempting to cover up a dark secret. With his life at risk, Trevor must ultimately find out the truth before it's too late.

When three mysterious servants arrive to work in the house, strange events begin to occur and the family discovers secrets from their past that may be linked to their new servants. As their secrets are slowly revealed, the family is forced to confront the truth about their lives, the house, and the strange forces that inhabit it. The film builds to a shocking climax that keeps viewers guessing until the very end.

The Skin I Live In is a 2011 Spanish drama/thriller film directed by Pedro Almodóvar. The film follows plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Ledgard (Antonio Banderas) as he works to perfect a revolutionary skin grafting technique on a mysterious woman (Elena Anaya). As the story unfolds, it is revealed that the woman is actually the product of a cruel experiment conducted by Ledgard, who is attempting to avenge the rape of his daughter. The film follows Ledgard as he struggles with his moral dilemma and the consequences of his actions. Throughout, themes of identity and revenge are explored, as well as the complexities of grief and loss.
