Life of Pi is a 2012 American survival drama film directed by Ang Lee, based on the 2001 novel of the same name by Yann Martel. The film follows the story of Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, a Tamil Indian boy who survives 227 days after a shipwreck while stranded in the Pacific Ocean with a Bengal tiger. It stars Suraj Sharma as the adult Pi, Irrfan Khan as the adult Pi's storyteller, and Rafe Spall as the writer. The film follows Pi's story of survival after a shipwreck that leaves him stranded on a lifeboat with a hyena, zebra, orangutan, and Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Pi's fear of the tiger and his need to survive drive him to an epic journey of self-discovery, faith, and healing. Along the way, he learns that the most important things in life are family, friendship, and the courage to take risks. Pi eventually makes it to land, where he learns to appreciate the beauty in the world around him. In the end, the film celebrates the power of faith and hope, and the courage that comes from accepting life’s unpredictable nature.
