The Little Mermaid is a 1989 animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on the Danish fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, the film tells the story of Ariel, a mermaid princess who dreams of becoming human. After striking a bargain with Ursula, the sea witch, Ariel reluctantly agrees to trade her beautiful voice in exchange for legs, and embarks on an adventure to try and win the heart of the human Prince Eric. Along the way, Ariel is aided by her amusingly wise-cracking sidekick Sebastian, a Jamaican-accented crab, and Flounder, a timid tropical fish. With their help, Ariel must confront Ursula's underhanded scheme in order to save both her kingdom and the man she loves. Featuring classic songs such as “Under the Sea” and “Part of Your World”, The Little Mermaid is a must-see for Disney fans of all ages.
