Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back is a 1980 space opera directed by Irvin Kershner. Set three years after the events of the first movie, the story follows the Rebel Alliance as they are pursued by the Galactic Empire. The Empire, under the leadership of Darth Vader, has tracked the Rebel base to the remote ice planet of Hoth, and launches an all-out attack. In the ensuing chaos, Luke Skywalker is forced to flee the planet in search of Yoda, a powerful Jedi Master, in order to receive training in the ways of the Force. Meanwhile, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and their loyal Wookiee companion Chewbacca, are pursued by the Empire across the galaxy, culminating in a rescue mission on the floating city of Cloud City. As Luke continues his training, he must also confront his own inner demons, as well as the dark presence of Darth Vader. Ultimately, the heroes are able to successfully outwit the Empire, but not before Darth Vader reveals a shocking truth that changes Luke’s life forever.

In an effort to save the aliens, Wikus must confront the MNU and fight to protect them from the government’s plans.
