The story follows Guts, a lone mercenary who is haunted by a demonic force known as the "Brand of Sacrifice". Guts joins a traveling mercenary group called the Band of the Hawk and befriends their leader, Griffith. When Griffith is accused of treason, Guts and the Band of the Hawk must attempt to save him and protect what they've all worked hard to build. The film features intense action, fast-paced sword fights, and a story of loyalty and friendship.

The ultimate goal is to save England and the world from the forces of evil.

Set in the year 2808 in the futuristic city of Oedo, the series follows the exploits of three cyber criminals—Sengoku, Benten, and Gogul—who are forced to work as agents for the Cyber Police. The sole mission of the Cyber Police is to protect the citizens of Oedo from the numerous cyber criminals, cyborgs, and mutants that inhabit the city. The three criminals have been given special cybernetic implants to assist them in their mission, as well as a special mission that only they can accomplish. With action-packed fight scenes, a complex and compelling storyline, and a unique artistic style, "Cyber City Oedo 808" is considered a classic of the cyberpunk genre.
