Boogie Nights is a 1997 American drama film written, produced and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Set in the San Fernando Valley in the 1970s, the film stars Mark Wahlberg as Eddie Adams, a teenage busboy and dishwasher who is discovered by pornographic film director Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds). With the help of Horner, Eddie rises to become a famous porn star, Dirk Diggler, and works alongside other rising stars in the industry, including his friend and fellow porn star Reed Rothchild (John C. Reilly). As time passes, his life begins to unravel as he is seduced by drugs and the lifestyle associated with the porn industry. The film follows his struggles and successes as Dirk Diggler and the other characters in the industry as their lives intertwine. The film also stars Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle, William H. Macy, Heather Graham, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Alfred Molina.
