The Thing is a 1982 American horror film directed by John Carpenter, written by Bill Lancaster, and starring Kurt Russell. The film tells the story of a group of American researchers in the Antarctic who encounter a hostile extraterrestrial lifeform, which has the ability to assimilate and imitate other organisms. In the process, it wreaks havoc on the researchers, as they battle to survive the brutal conditions and the creature itself. As tension and paranoia mounts, they must fight to stay alive while attempting to discover who, or what, the Thing really is.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 American stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film produced and conceived by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick. It tells the story of Jack Skellington, an inhabitant of "Halloween Town" who stumbles through a portal to "Christmas Town" and decides to celebrate the holiday. Danny Elfman wrote the songs and score, and provided the singing voice of Jack. The film stars Chris Sarandon as Jack, Catherine O'Hara as Sally, Ken Page as Oogie Boogie and William Hickey as Dr. Finkelstein. The story follows Jack's quest to bring Christmas to his home of Halloween Town, and his adventures along the way. Jack's increasingly desperate efforts to bring this about cause confusion and conflict in both worlds. In the end, Jack learns the true meaning of Christmas and his mission is accomplished.
