The Skin I Live In is a 2011 Spanish psychological thriller film by director Pedro Almodóvar. It stars Antonio Banderas as Dr. Robert Ledgard, an obsessive plastic surgeon who has developed a revolutionary skin grafting technology that allows him to take skin from one person and graft it onto another. The story follows the doctor's experimentation with his latest patient, a mysterious woman referred to only as Vera (Elena Anaya). Through flashbacks, it is revealed that the doctor is obsessed with creating a new type of skin, one that is resistant to aging, sun damage, and even fire. In his obsession, he has taken Vera and kept her prisoner in his home for years, using her body for his experiments. The film also stars Marisa Paredes and Roberto Álamo. Ultimately, the film examines themes of love, identity, and revenge, as the doctor's experimentations bring out Vera's true identity, and his own secrets are uncovered.
