Jaws is a 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Peter Benchley's 1974 novel of the same name. The film stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss as a trio of men who hunt a Great White shark preying on a beach resort town. After several people are killed by the shark, the police chief of Amity Island, Martin Brody (Scheider), reluctantly teams up with a marine biologist (Dreyfuss) and an old seafarer (Shaw) to hunt the shark. In a thrilling climax, they face the monster in a battle of wits, courage and strength, managing to successfully destroy it. The film won three Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and was the first summer blockbuster. It became the highest grossing film of all time until the release of Star Wars in 1977.

The Abyss is a 1989 science fiction-action film directed by James Cameron. It stars Ed Harris, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Michael Biehn. The film follows a team of deep-sea oil drillers who are hired to search for a lost nuclear submarine. During their mission, they encounter an alien species living in the depths of the ocean. As the team works to rescue the submarine, they must also protect the alien life form and fight off an imminent nuclear attack. With thrilling action sequences and an engaging story, The Abyss is an exciting, suspenseful and heart-pounding adventure.
