With the help of her friend, Mima sets out to uncover the truth behind the threats, only to find out the danger is closer than she had ever imagined. Through her journey of self-discovery and terror, Mima begins to blur the lines between reality and fantasy, and ultimately discovers a truth more frightening than she ever could have imagined.

The film follows a five-year-old Indian boy, Saroo (played by Pawar) who is separated from his family after falling asleep on a train. He ends up in Calcutta, a thousand miles away from his home and family. Twenty-five years later, Saroo (now played by Patel) sets out on a journey to find his long-lost family. Along the way, he learns more about his family, his culture, and the strength and resilience of the human spirit. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Nicole Kidman.

After his daughter Margot (Lee) goes missing, David Kim (Cho) begins to search for her using her laptop, communicating with her friends and family and tracing her digital footprints. As he digs deeper into her online history, he discovers she was leading a double life. As time passes and leads run cold, David decides to take matters into his own hands, risking his own safety in his desperate search for her. The film is told entirely through a variety of screens, including laptops, smartphones, and surveillance cameras.
