LA 92 is a documentary focusing on the events leading up to, during, and after the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The film uses archival footage and interviews with eyewitnesses to tell the story of the civil unrest that broke out in Los Angeles following the acquittal of four police officers for the beating of African-American motorist Rodney King. It examines the underlying issues of racial tension and police brutality that led to the riots, as well as their aftermath and the effects on the city. The film also looks at the human stories of those on both sides of the conflict, from victims of police brutality to those who sought to take advantage of the situation to loot and commit crimes. In the end, the film shows how the riots catalyzed social and political change, while also exposing the persistence of deep-seated racial inequalities in America.
