The film stars Sigourney Weaver in her breakout role as Ellen Ripley, alongside Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto. Alien combines elements of horror and action-adventure, particularly in its set pieces and creature design. It has since become a classic and is widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time.
