Guardians of the Galaxy is a 2014 science fiction action film directed by James Gunn and based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The film follows Peter Quill, an intergalactic scavenger, as he meets a group of misfits known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. After finding an all-powerful orb coveted by a mysterious villain called Ronan the Accuser, they must band together to stop him from using it to destroy the universe. Along the way, they must contend with a revenge-seeking alien named Gamora, a wise-cracking raccoon called Rocket, a tree-like humanoid called Groot, and a vengeful warrior called Drax. Together, they must use their newfound friendship and their extraordinary abilities to save the galaxy from Ronan and his villainous forces.

The film is a critical and commercial success, and is now considered one of the best comedies of the 2000s. It spawned two sequels, The Hangover Part II (2011) and The Hangover Part III (2013).

With the help of their drunken friend Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and a fake ID, the three hatch a plan to get alcohol for the big party of the summer. As the night progresses, events spiral out of control as the boys' quest for alcohol leads to a series of embarrassing and chaotic encounters with cops, partygoers, and their own hormones. Despite the hilarity, Superbad also addresses themes of growing up and friendship, as Seth and Evan come to terms with their impending adulthood.
