Alien is a science fiction horror film released in 1979 and directed by Ridley Scott. The plot follows the crew of a commercial towing vessel, the Nostromo, as they investigate a distress call from a nearby planet. Upon arriving, they discover the distress call is coming from a derelict alien spacecraft and they decide to explore it. Inside, they find the remains of an alien creature and an egg. However, when the egg opens, a creature attaches itself to one of the crew members and begins to breed. As the alien organism grows, it begins to terrorize and hunt the crew members one by one, leaving the survivors to fight for their lives. Eventually, the sole survivor, Ellen Ripley, manages to destroy the alien and escape the Nostromo.
