The Truman Show is a 1998 satirical science fiction film directed by Peter Weir, starring Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank, a man who is unaware that his life is actually a reality television show broadcast around the clock to billions of people around the world. His whole life, including his relationships and career, has been staged and crafted by the show's creator and executive producer, Christof, played by Ed Harris. Truman gradually begins to discover the truth, and his desire to break free from his controlled existence leads to a dramatic climax. The film explores themes of reality and surveillance, as well as the nature of media and its influence over people's lives.
