Silicon Valley is a 2014 American comedy film directed by Mike Judge and written by Judge, John Altschuler, and Dave Krinsky. The film follows the struggles of a group of programmers in the competitive Silicon Valley tech industry. It stars Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Josh Brener, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani, and Christopher Evan Welch. The film follows Richard Hendricks, a programmer working at an IT company called Hooli. After creating a revolutionary new data compression algorithm, Richard leaves Hooli with two other programmers, Erlich and Big Head, to start a new tech company of their own. They receive funding from venture capitalist Peter Gregory, and with the help of a lawyer, Monica, they must battle Hooli and other tech companies to stay on the cutting edge of technology. They must also confront the harsh realities of the tech industry, including sexism, financial struggles, and legal issues. Along the way, they find success and face obstacles as they attempt to make their mark in the Silicon Valley.
