The film focuses on the events of Operation Red Wings, a failed mission to capture or kill a Taliban leader who is believed to be responsible for ambushing another American-led mission that resulted in the death of several US soldiers. After coming under heavy enemy fire and sustaining numerous casualties, the four SEALs are forced to make a difficult decision to abandon their mission and fight for their own survival. The SEALs face a grueling battle against the Taliban as they make their way through the hostile terrain while struggling to evade their enemies. In the end, only one of the four SEALs survives the ordeal.
