Alien is a 1979 science fiction horror film directed by Ridley Scott and starring Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, and Ian Holm. Set in the year 2122, a commercial towing spaceship, the Nostromo, is on its way back to Earth when they receive a distress call from a seemingly abandoned alien spacecraft. The crew investigate and discover the remains of the alien pilot, as well as a cargo of alien eggs. When one of the eggs hatches, a fearsome creature implants itself inside of crewmember Kane (John Hurt) and begins to grow. Soon enough, the crew discovers the full horror of what they are dealing with--a relentless, nearly indestructible creature that will stop at nothing to ensure the survival of its species. The crew must fight for their lives and find a way to destroy the alien before it destroys them.

The Shining is a psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick and released in 1980. Jack gradually becomes possessed by a supernatural force within the hotel, which leads him to become increasingly violent and unhinged. As Jack's descent into madness begins to endanger his family, Wendy and Danny must find a way to escape the hotel, while trying to survive the horrors of the supernatural. The Shining is a classic of the horror genre and is widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. It is noted for its use of surrealism, and its visual and psychological effects.

The group soon comes to the realization that a parasitic shape-shifting alien, which imitates other organisms, has infiltrated their outpost and is gradually taking over the members of the team one by one. The researchers must band together in order to survive and ultimately defeat the Thing before it can escape and spread its deadly infection to the rest of the world. The film stars Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, and Keith David. It was critically praised for its suspense, special effects, and performances and is widely regarded as one of the greatest horror films ever made.

Despite the town's attempt to increase tourism by keeping the shark attacks a secret, the creature continues to kill innocent beach-goers. After several failed attempts to capture or kill the shark, the men set out on a final mission to hunt down the creature and destroy it before more people are harmed. Jaws is seen as one of the greatest and most influential films ever made, revolutionizing the summer movie season and completely changing the way the public views sharks. It grossed over $470 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing film at the time, and it was nominated for three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

The Exorcist is a 1973 supernatural horror film directed by William Friedkin and based on William Peter Blatty's 1971 novel of the same name. Her mother, Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn), seeks help from two priests, Father Damien Karras (Jason Miller) and Father Lankester Merrin (Max von Sydow). Together, the priests attempt to drive the evil entity out of Regan by performing an exorcism. The film was a critical and commercial success, with the performances of Burstyn, Miller and Blair garnering praise, and the film becoming one of the most profitable horror films of all time.

The four then set out on a journey to find a safe place to call home. Along the way, they encounter other survivors, hordes of zombies, and the occasional madman. Together, the group must learn to trust each other in order to survive the perilous journey and make it to the promise land.

The Conjuring is a 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan. The film stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, two paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of hauntings. The Warrens come to the assistance of the Perron family, who experienced increasingly disturbing events in their farmhouse in Rhode Island in 1971. The Conjuring is the first installment in The Conjuring Universe and was followed by a sequel, The Conjuring 2 (2016), and several other films, including Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation (2017) and The Nun (2018). The film follows the Warrens as they investigate the events of the Perron family and ultimately face off against a powerful demonic entity. The Warrens must rely on their faith and knowledge of the paranormal to battle the dark forces and protect the family from the evil spirit, who has an affinity for the youngest daughter, Cindy. Through intense study and prayer, the Warrens help the family to confront and eventually defeat the demonic presence.

The plot follows two lovable hillbillies, Tucker and Dale, who are mistaken for murderous backwood hillbillies by a group of preppy college kids. The college kids attempt to seek revenge on Tucker and Dale, leading to a series of hilarious and gruesome misadventures. The film is a satirical take on the classic horror movie tropes and has been widely praised for its witty writing, charming performances and its clever subversion of genre conventions.
