The Prestige is a 2006 mystery thriller directed by Christopher Nolan that tells the story of two rival 19th century magicians, Alfred Borden and Robert Angier. The two start off as partners, working together to perfect their craft, but after a tragic accident involving Angier's wife, their friendship is destroyed and they become bitter rivals. Borden's obsession with mastering the perfect trick leads him to create a dangerous machine capable of duplicating himself, while Angier's obsession leads him to a powerful new technology - Tesla's teleportation machine. As the two battle to outdo each other, their rivalry grows to dangerous heights. The film follows the two as they uncover their secrets and attempt to outmaneuver each other. In the end, the two magicians come to understand the power of sacrifice and the sacrifices they must make to achieve their dreams.

The Illusionist is a 2006 romantic mystery film directed by Neil Burger. It stars Edward Norton as Eisenheim, a talented and renowned magician in turn-of-the-century Vienna. Eisenheim's extraordinary magic tricks astound both the public and the cynical police inspector, Uhl (Paul Giamatti). When the powerful Crown Prince Leopold (Rufus Sewell) takes a romantic interest in a common woman (Jessica Biel), Eisenheim uses his magic to help her escape the prince's advances. This leads to a dramatic showdown between Eisenheim and the prince, with Uhl caught in the middle. The film is a thrilling and romantic love story, as well as an exploration of the power of illusion and belief.

The Magician is a 1958 Swedish film directed by Ingmar Bergman. It follows the story of Dr. Vogler, an eccentric traveling magician, who visits an isolated 19th-century Swedish village. Dr. Vogler is asked by the local baron to perform a series of magical acts, in the hope that they will bring the baron's son out of a coma. The journey of Dr. Vogler through the town is filled with various forms of magic, as he attempts to bring back the life of the baron's son. Along the way, he is met with suspicion and fear, as the townspeople struggle to understand his power and the possibility of it being real. With the help of a young assistant, Dr. Vogler is able to succeed and the baron's son is brought back to life. The film examines the power of belief and superstition in this small, rural town, as well as religious faith and the impact of the unknown.
