Lone Survivor is a 2013 American war thriller film based on the true story of an ill-fated US Navy SEALs mission to capture or kill a Taliban leader in Afghanistan. The movie follows the story of four Navy SEALs - Marcus Luttrell, Michael Murphy, Danny Dietz and Matthew Axelson - who are sent on an intelligence gathering mission deep in the Hindu Kush region of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. After they are discovered and attacked by a large group of Taliban fighters, the four valiantly fight for their lives until only one of them, Marcus, manages to escape alive. The film follows his incredible journey of survival and determination to get back to safety, as well as pay tribute to the men who gave their lives for their country.
