The Seventh Seal is an iconic 1957 Swedish drama film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman. Set during the Black Death of the Middle Ages, it follows the journey of a medieval knight, Antonius Block, and his squire, Jöns, as they return home from the Crusades. Along the way, Block encounters Death, who challenges him to a fateful game of chess. As the pair engages in their match, they encounter a variety of characters and discuss the meaning of life and death. In the end, Block discovers the limitations of human mortality and finds solace in his faith.
