The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 American stop-motion fantasy musical film directed by Henry Selick, and produced and conceived by Tim Burton. It tells the story of Jack Skellington, the King of "Halloween Town" who stumbles through a mysterious portal and finds himself in "Christmas Town". He becomes bored with the same yearly routine of frightening people in the "real world" and his fascination with Christmas leads him to abduct Santa Claus and take over the role. He is unaware that his actions bring danger to both Christmas and Halloween. His ragdoll girlfriend Sally and his allies among the townsfolk must help him put things right before it's too late. The film is known for its dark, whimsical atmosphere and its score composed by Danny Elfman which made use of a variety of musical styles. It was the first stop-motion feature film produced by Burton and the first full-length movie to be created entirely in stop-motion animation.
