Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) is a science fiction horror film directed by Don Siegel. The story follows a young doctor in the small town of Santa Mira, California, who discovers that the citizens are being replaced one by one by emotionless alien duplicates. He teams up with a reclusive psychiatrist, a young couple, and a local health inspector to try to stop the alien invasion and save humanity. The film is known for its allegory of McCarthyism and the paranoia it created in the 1950s. It has become a classic of the genre and is considered by many to be one of the greatest science fiction films of all time.

Forbidden Planet is a 1956 science fiction film directed by Fred M. Wilcox and starring Walter Pidgeon and Anne Francis. Set in the 23rd century, the story follows a spaceship crew sent to investigate the destruction of a colony on a distant planet, Altair IV. Upon arriving, they discover that a mysterious, unseen force is responsible for the destruction of the colony, as well as the existence of a powerful, unseen creature. The crew soon learns that the planet's sole inhabitant is an advanced robotic scientist, Dr. Morbius, and his daughter, Altaira, who have managed to survive the destruction. Together, the crew and Dr. Morbius must find a way to defeat the mysterious force and save the planet. The film is notable for its groundbreaking special effects and for being the first science fiction movie to feature an entirely electronic musical score.
