The Muppet Christmas Carol is a 1992 musical fantasy comedy-drama film directed by Brian Henson and produced by Jim Henson Productions. It is the fourth feature film to star the Muppets and the first produced after the death of Muppets creator Jim Henson. Based on the 1843 novella A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the film stars Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge, as well as the Muppets as various supporting roles. The story follows Scrooge, a miserly Victorian-era merchant, as he is visited by three spirits (played by the Muppets) who take him on a journey through his past, present, and future to show him the error of his ways.
