The Elephant Man is a 1980 biographical drama film directed by David Lynch and starring John Hurt, Anthony Hopkins, Anne Bancroft, John Gielgud, Wendy Hiller and Freddie Jones. The film tells the story of Joseph Merrick, a severely deformed man in 19th century London who becomes a social outcast. Despite his physical disfigurement, Merrick is a gentle and intelligent man who is befriended by the surgeon Frederick Treves and admired by the public. Through Treves' help, Merrick gradually gains acceptance in society and achieves a degree of independence. The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for John Hurt.

As the investigation progresses, Teddy's own sanity is tested as he is plagued by visions of his dead wife and by his own dark past. As the truth is slowly revealed, Teddy is forced to confront the demons of his past in order to escape the island alive.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 stop-motion animated musical fantasy film directed by Henry Selick and produced and conceived by Tim Burton. The film follows Jack Skellington, the King of Halloweentown, who is bored with the same annual routine of frightening people in the "real world." His attention is drawn to Christmastown by the mysterious Sally, a rag doll who warns him of the disastrous consequences of his actions, but Jack begins to devise a plan to bring Christmas under his control. With the help of Halloweentown's residents, Jack sets out to take over Christmas, but learns some valuable lessons about life along the way. The film features the voices of Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O'Hara and William Hickey.

Get Out is a horror/thriller film directed by Jordan Peele and released in 2017. The film follows protagonist Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya), a young African-American man who travels to meet his white girlfriend Rose Armitage's (Allison Williams) parents for the weekend. Initially greeted warmly by Rose's parents, Chris soon becomes aware of a sinister agenda that sees him as the target of an experiment. As he attempts to escape the family's estate, Chris uncovers the truth behind what is happening to him and other African-American individuals who have disappeared from the same area. In the end, Chris is able to outsmart his captors and save himself while exposing the Armitage family's sinister plan. Get Out's themes of racism, privilege, and power make it an important cinematic statement and a great addition to the horror genre.

The film follows Patrick Bateman, a wealthy, young Wall Street executive with an unhealthy obsession with wealth, power, and status. He is also an unhinged serial killer who enjoys murdering innocent people in his spare time. The film follows Bateman's struggles with his own sanity as he begins to question whether or not his horrific actions are real or just a figment of his imagination. The film also explores themes of corporate greed, consumerism, and the dark side of 1980s yuppie lifestyle.

The Fly is a 1986 science fiction horror film written and directed by David Cronenberg. His increasing physical and psychological changes become a horrifying pursuit for self-control and identity. Geena Davis also stars as Veronica Quaife, Brundle's love interest, who discovers the horrible changes and desperately tries to help him. The Fly was a critical and commercial success, grossing $60 million at the box office and earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Makeup.
