The Sixth Sense is a psychological horror-thriller film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It follows the story of a troubled child psychologist, Dr. Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis), and his patient, Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), a young boy who claims to be able to see and talk to the dead. As Dr. Crowe attempts to uncover the truth behind Cole's extraordinary powers, he discovers a terrifying secret that will change his life, and the life of the boy, forever. The film is a chilling exploration of the afterlife, as well as a heartbreaking story of human connection and redemption. The Sixth Sense was an enormous box-office success, earning six Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

The Others is a 2001 gothic psychological horror film written and directed by Alejandro Amenábar. Set in post-World War II England, the story follows Grace (Nicole Kidman), a religious woman who lives in an isolated estate with her two children Anne and Nicholas, who suffer from a rare medical condition that makes them photosensitive. When three mysterious servants arrive at the estate, strange and supernatural events begin to occur. It is soon revealed that the estate is haunted by the ghosts of former residents, who are seeking revenge on Grace for a dark secret she is hiding. As the sinister events intensify, Grace must confront her past and protect her children at all costs.
