The Prestige is a 2006 mystery thriller film directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, and Michael Caine. Set in late 19th century London, the film follows two rival stage magicians who, along with a mysterious woman, battle for supremacy of the craft. As their rivalry escalates, they will do whatever it takes to outdo one another and discover the secret of the other's techniques. Along the way they face personal and moral dilemmas, as well as a twist ending that leaves the audience guessing. In the end, they must decide if the cost of reaching the pinnacle of their profession is worth the price they may pay.

The Illusionist is a romantic mystery-drama set in Vienna, Austria in the late 19th century. The story centers around Eisenheim (Edward Norton), a gifted magician and escape artist who was born into poverty but has since become a celebrated performer. His act quickly attracts the attention of Crown Prince Leopold (Rufus Sewell), who becomes obsessed with exposing the secrets of Eisenheim’s act. To this end, Leopold enlists the help of the talented and ambitious Inspector Uhl (Paul Giamatti), who is determined to prove that Eisenheim is a fraud. As the investigation progresses, Eisenheim and Uhl become entangled in a complex game of cat and mouse as they try to outwit each other. Meanwhile, Eisenheim’s mysterious past and his relationship with his childhood love, the Duchess von Teschen (Jessica Biel), become increasingly intertwined with the unfolding mystery. Ultimately, Eisenheim must use his powers of illusion to outsmart Leopold and discover the truth about his own past.

The Magician is a 1958 Swedish drama film set in the mid-19th century, directed by Ingmar Bergman. It follows the journey of a travelling magician and his troupe as they make their way around the country performing their show. Along the way, they are confronted with a variety of issues such as poverty, superstition, and religious hypocrisy. As the troupe's leader, the magician must use his illusions to try and make a better life for himself and his companions. In the end, he discovers that true magic is found within oneself.
