National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a 1989 American Christmas comedy film directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik. It stars Chevy Chase, Beverly D'Angelo and Randy Quaid. The plot follows the Griswold family's plans for a big family Christmas, which does not turn out as expected. Clark Griswold (Chase) desperately wants a perfect Christmas so he and his wife, Ellen (D'Angelo), gather their extended family to celebrate the holidays at their home. However, things don't go as planned, with a series of mishaps and misadventures causing chaos and mayhem. Eventually, the Griswolds must band together to salvage their Christmas and learn the true meaning of the holiday season.
