Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a 1991 science fiction action film directed and co-written by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator, Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor and Edward Furlong as John Connor. The movie follows the events of the first Terminator film in which a cyborg assassin is sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor, the mother of a future leader of the human resistance against machines. In this sequel, another Terminator, this one with a more advanced CPU and mimetic polyalloy endoskeleton, is sent back to protect John Connor, who is targeted by a new, more advanced Terminator. The film follows Sarah and the T-800 model as they battle the new Terminator model- the T-1000- in order to protect John and prepare him for the future war against machines. This movie was the highest grossing film of 1991 and was very well received by critics. It won several awards, including four Academy Awards for Best Makeup, Best Sound, Best Visual Effects, and Best Sound Editing.
