Life of Pi is a 2012 adventure drama film directed by Ang Lee and based on Yann Martel's 2001 novel of the same name. It tells the story of Piscine Molitor 'Pi' Patel, a 16-year-old Indian boy who survives a shipwreck and is stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger. In the story, Pi is forced to rely on his own resourcefulness and faith to survive in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, with only a few animals for company. The film follows Pi as he struggles to find a way to survive and return to his family. Along the way, he encounters a number of challenges and discovers a deeper understanding of himself and the world around him. The film won four Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Cinematography, and has been praised for its stunning visuals and thoughtful story.

Cast Away is a 2000 American survival drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Tom Hanks. The film follows a FedEx employee who is stranded on a deserted island after his plane crashes in the South Pacific. He must learn to survive on the island using whatever he can find and relying on his own resourcefulness. After four years on the island, he is eventually rescued and returns to civilization, where he must learn to adjust and readjust to his old life. Along the way, he discovers the true importance of companionship and the beauty of life.
