Young Frankenstein is a 1974 black-and-white satirical comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks and starring Gene Wilder as the title character, a descendant of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The film follows the young Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to complete his grandfather's work by creating a creature from spare body parts. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor, and a curvaceous lab assistant, Inga, the doctor succeeds in creating a monster, but not without unforeseen and quite often comical complications. The film combines elements of horror and comedy, as the monster and his creator encounter various obstacles while trying to bring the creature to life.

With his newfound courage, Boris sets out to prove his valor and save Sonya. Throughout the course of the film, Allen cleverly satirizes war and philosophy, through his signature combination of deadpan wit and slapstick humor. Love and Death is a classic of the Woody Allen oeuvre and a timeless comedy.
