The Boat is a 1981 German film directed by Wolfgang Petersen, starring Jürgen Prochnow, Herbert Grönemeyer, Klaus Wennemann, and Hubertus Bengsch. Set in the waning days of World War II, The Boat tells the story of a small German submarine crew who are struggling to survive in the North Atlantic while avoiding Allied forces. With a dwindling food supply, dwindling morale, and the constant threat of death from the Allied forces, the crew must make a desperate attempt to get back to Germany and safety or die trying. The film follows their journey, both physically and emotionally, as they strive to make it home alive.
