As Orlov’s empire grows, his life is threatened by the presence of an Interpol agent (Ethan Hawke) who is determined to bring him to justice. In the end, Orlov is forced to confront his own conscience and the consequences of his actions.

Beane relies on sabermetrics, a form of analysis, to draft and trade players based on their statistical performance. With the help of his assistant, Peter Brand, Beane is able to assemble a team of undervalued players that go on to have success in the 2002 season. The film explores themes of underdogs, team building and the importance of data-driven decision making. Moneyball is praised for its informative and entertaining storyline and its strong performances. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won the Best Adapted Screenplay award.
