From Bennett Miller, starring Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman
Rated PG-13

Moneyball is a 2011 sports drama film directed by Bennett Miller, based on the true story of Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to put together a baseball team on a budget by taking a sabermetric approach. Through the use of computer-generated analysis, Beane assembles a team of undervalued players who went on to break the team's season-winning record. The film stars Brad Pitt as Beane, Jonah Hill as Peter Brand, the analyst who helps him, and Philip Seymour Hoffman as A's manager Art Howe. The story of how Beane and Brand use sabermetrics to evaluate players and build the team is told in parallel to Beane's struggles to balance his desire to create a winning team with the pressures he faces from ownership and his own personal life. Moneyball is a poignant tale of how one man's vision and dedication can revolutionize a sport.
