Gone Baby Gone is a 2007 crime drama directed by Ben Affleck and based on the novel by Dennis Lehane. The story follows two private detectives, Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck) and Angie Gennaro (Michelle Monaghan), who are hired to investigate the disappearance of a four-year-old girl, Amanda, from a working-class Boston neighborhood. Through their investigation, the two uncover a complex web of lies and deceit that threatens to tear apart their own relationship, as well as their neighborhood. As their search intensifies, the detectives realize that their own moral convictions are being tested as they get closer and closer to the truth. The film is an exploration of morality and the decisions that are made when faced with difficult, sometimes life-or-death decisions.

Mysterious Skin is a 2004 drama film directed by Gregg Araki, based on Scott Heim's novel of the same name. It follows the story of two teenage boys, Neil and Brian, whose lives were changed forever during a fateful summer. Neil is a street-wise hustler, and Brian is a timid recluse, who are both haunted by a traumatic event from eight years earlier. As the boys attempt to come to terms with the abuse they suffered, their lives begin to intersect in unexpected ways. The film examines themes of childhood sexual abuse and its long-term effects on the psyche, while exploring the complexities of human relationships.
