The Prestige is a 2006 mystery thriller film directed by Christopher Nolan and written by Nolan and his brother Jonathan. The film follows two rival stage magicians in London at the end of the 19th century. Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) become friends and partners when they perform in a stage act together. When Angier's wife Julia (Piper Perabo) is killed in a performance gone wrong, the two men become bitter enemies and embark on a dangerous battle of one-upmanship that destroys both of their lives. Angier and Borden will resort to any lengths to uncover each other's secrets and gain the ultimate stage trick – the prestige. The film also stars Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, and Rebecca Hall.
