Gladiator is a 2000 historical epic film directed by Ridley Scott. The film tells the story of Maximus Decimus Meridius, a brave and loyal Roman general who was betrayed and forced into slavery. Maximus is purchased by Proximo, a former gladiator who trains him to fight in the Colosseum. After becoming a gladiator, Maximus seeks revenge against the corrupt emperor who killed his family and betrayed him.
