Office Space is a 1999 comedy film directed by Mike Judge and starring Ron Livingston, Jennifer Aniston, Gary Cole, Stephen Root, and David Herman. The film follows the story of Peter Gibbons, a disgruntled programmer who is fed up with the monotony of corporate life. After consulting with a hypnotherapist, Peter begins to care less about his job and more about his own happiness. With the help of his friends and co-workers, Michael Bolton and Samir Nagheenanajar, he devises a plan to embezzle money from the company. Despite their best efforts, the trio continually run into roadblocks while attempting to carry out the plan. In the end, Peter learns to accept his job and finds a way to succeed on his own terms.

It follows the story of two store clerks, Dante Hicks (Brian O'Halloran) and Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson), who work at a convenience store and a video rental store in a New Jersey mall. The film follows the two main characters through their mundane daily routine of dealing with customers, debating pop culture topics, and getting into trouble. Though the characters lack ambition and direction in life, they still manage to form a unique bond as they debate topics like relationships, religion, and mortality. Throughout the course of the film, Dante and Randal are faced with various obstacles such as a robbery, a power outage, and an angry customer, which the two must overcome. In the end, the two characters manage to find a way to come together and make it through their day, no matter how chaotic it may be. Clerks is hailed as a cult classic and is considered one of the greatest independent films ever made.
